Energy and Water
Being one of the African countries with most water resources, Ethiopia need to improve its exploitation infrastructures. About ) 42% of rural population can access to drinking water (90% in urban areas).
Access to electricity also means a need and a challenge since only 22% of population can access to electricity (2008), of which 2% is rural one. According to the International Energy Agency (2006) and government sources, electrification rate is only 15%.
Although the first source of electric power is always the hydroelectric one, at this moment there are some projects oriented to renewable powers that are especially interesting for being supplied to rural areas.
- Hydroelectric power
- Renewable energies
- Exploitation of water resources
- Water treatments
